That is pretty weird. I got those names from the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs*. Let's use the Hebrew names for the places because I feel like that is their true names.
I thought being near a lake would be kind of fun. There is a lot of different habitats near large bodies of water, so we have a nice selection of Pokemon to potentially catch.

Nory went with Lil' Sev over to the shore, and dipped his net into the water after having tied a berry to it's rim. The lake was not known for having an awfully large population of pokemon, and still it was mostly made up of Magikarp. However it did have the ever uncommon Barboach swimming around, and Nory was nothing short of prepared, having adjusted the size of the net with some cloth that had a hole in it. Which makes the fact he was shirtless sound more sophisticated. To make this interesting and due to having heard mentions of his passion, D&D, beneath spoiler embroised walls, the person writing this rolled a die with a 1/3 chance of encoutering a wild Barboach before Kind does something. 3, not the coveted 5 or 6 that the die should have produced. Them's the breaks.

EDIT: Trishade, you should also keep the number and level of your pokemon proportional to ours, so there isn't a huge power gap.

...Shootaf and Kind were cleaning up the camp site while they waited for Nary to return. Everything was going smoothly until Shootaf suddenly stopped. "~I know I heard something.~" After a second, he heard it again. It was a faint call for help. Shootaf charged into the undergrowth in the direction of the shouting.
..."Shootaf!" Kind yelled with concern as he took off after his determined Pokemon.
..."~Sorry Master, but there is no time to lose. We have to get there quickly.~" Shootaf called back, as he sped ahead of his master. After a minute, Shootaf jumped out of the bushes and into a field, landing right between an injured Rattata and a swarm of angry Scyther. "~Back off! This little one couldn't have done anything to deserve such a harsh beating.~"
...The lead Scyther took a step forward. "~I am King Jara Hamee. She has stolen from my people for many times. Before I was merciful, but she has refused to learn her lesson. Now stand aside outsider, for justice shall be delivered!"
...Kind emerged from the forest just as King Jara Hamee finished his attack. With an even voice, he commanded, "Shootaf return." He walked in front of the Rattata, spread his arms wide, and in a firm voice proclaimed, "I do not know what is going on, but I know this; my Pokemon tried to protect this Rattata. That is enough for me. Any punishment you wish to inflict on it, you may instead inflict on me, as long as you promise that it will leave here safely."
...Everyone looked at this human in shock. Only a few understood the words, but everyone understood the meaning. King Jara Hamee was the first to recover. "~That is very noble of you human. Let us see if your words have any sustenance.~"
_______________________________1 Hour Later____________________________________________
...Nory made his way back to the campsite, ecstatic that he finally caught a Water-Type Pokemon. He could not wait to show Kind the newest addition to his team. The thought immediately left his mind once he got back to the campsite though. The tents were completely dismantled and put away, the fire-pit was safely deconstructed, any trash in the area had been cleaned up, and both his and Kind's packs were full their owner's supplies. That is what he expected to see when he got back. What he did not expect to see was Kind sitting down under a tree, holding a bloody rag over his nose, smiling the biggest smile he had ever seen. "Dude! What happened to you?"
..."Let's just say that I was catching Pokemon."

Nory was freaking out and shocked. He was conflicted whether he should giving Kind a First-Aid kit, un-bloodied clothes or like... A hug. He settled on getting Mareep, their backpacks and a serious face.

Also, in one of your earlier posts you mention a pokemon named PiladaEver, and I'm sure I got what it meant after some thinking earlier but now I have no idea. If anyone else was telling it, he would not believe a word; but Kind had always been truthful. He actually reads the contract you sign whenever you check into a Pokémon Center because he ‘just wanted to make sure nothing I say is true is actually false.
....“They never even touched you?”
....“Apart from these two marks on my neck, never.”
....“But those cuts, and your torn cloths…”
....“…from when I was running through the forest.”
....“Then what happen to your nose.”
....Kind turned his head to the side and then deadpanned, “I think that I broke it."
....“But how! Did one of the Scyther attack you once you were away from the rest of the swarm? Was it something else?”
....“Events happened.” Kind was clearly trying to avoid answering the question.
....“Maybe we should alert Officer Jenny that some Pokémon out here broke your face?” Nory knew that raising the stakes a little was all it would take to crack Kind.
....“No, no. That is not necessary.” Kind rubbed his neck and kept staring to the side. “You remember the part where the swarm’s leader and I were acting really respectful to each other? Right at the end?" Nory nodded. "Well.. after that I turned to walk away, and… uhh… I kind of walked into a tree.”
....“WHAT! You starred down a whole swarm of angry Scyther, only to get your clocked cleaned by a tree?” Nory burst into laughter so loud that Kind could not stop himself from chuckling along.
....Once they calmed down, Kind finished his story by adding, “I am pretty sure that the Scyther leader facepalmed.” A whole new round of laughter started up and did not end for quite a while.....

....King Hamee rushed toward Kind, preparing a X-Scissor aimed right at the human's neck. At the very last second, the crossed blades stopped their advance. Kind never even flinched, staring King Hamee in the eye throughout the event. The blades press harder on the giving flesh, until they just barely draw blood. After a moment, King Hamee lowered his arms. Kind was careful to hide his sigh of relief.
...."~Son.~"
....A young Scyther stepped forward. He dropped to one knee and held his blades behind his back before speaking to his superior. "~Yes, King Father.~"
...."~You will travel with this human as his Pokémon. This will be The Trial for you.~"
...."~Yes, King Father.~" Without another word, the juvenile walked toward the human, who tensed at the Pokémon’s approach. Kind was completely surprised when his 'attacker' bowed before him. After contemplating for a minute, Kind unhooked a Pokeball from his belt and pressed it against the Scyther's forehead. A red light enveloped, and then absorbed the Pokémon. Kind stood still, still shocked by what just happened. He was shaken out of this state when he heard a rustling behind him.
....The injured Ratatta was crawling away. Kind took out some Pokémon food and offered it to her. The Ratatta dug into the food as soon as Kind moved it within her reach. “If you want, I can catch you. You will not be a part of my team. Instead, you will live at a laboratory that will study you. There will always be a warm bed and good food, and no predator will threaten you.” The Ratatta looked up at the human and nodded eagerly until the Pokeball was pressed against her side.
....Kind stood up and turned to the swarm and its leader. “Thank you for the benevolent mercy of sparing this Ratatta.” Kind said while he bowed just as the Scyther, or rather his Scyther, bowed earlier.

Nory was teary eyed and coming down from his laughing fit when he remembered his original goal.
"Oh! I finally caught a pokemon that can beat your Larvitar and it's silly Ground typing! Go Barboach!" Nory let his new catch out of his ball. "~...HELP...~" "What do you-OH GOSH RIGHT WaTER FISH HAHAHAH" Nory nervously returned the pokemon to the comfort of simulated water with a look that made Kind chuckle as he was trying to treat his nose. "........A WATER-GROUND TYPE! So Chol takes quadrouple damage from it's water moves and Quilava's fire moves only deal a fourth damage!" Nory was rather proud to have memorized quite a bit of type effectiveness..es? And he knew with that, with some training (and suitable enviroment) he could take on the dreaded type that made his previous team so fearful.
"..Oh hey I just realized Amp can even take care of your new Flying types! Also I thought of some names for Mareep and came up with Amp. How do you feel about it Amp?' "That's great news! Let's get going. I want to reach the Pokemon Center today because of, you know." Kind gestured toward his broken nose.
"Wait wait wait wait. You cannot just tell me you caught a Scyther and then not show it to me! That would be just cruel."
"Fair enough." Kind through a Pokeball up into the air and yelled, "Charev, come on out!" After a flash of light, a proud Scyther stood before an inquisitive Nory.
"Cool, look at its large blades. They're like swords!"
"~King Master, is this one of your servants?~"
"~Hey!~" interjected Amp. "~Master is no one's servant! If anything, your master is the servant.~"
Charev turned toward the smaller Pokemon with a truly intimidating stare. In a voice so even and flat that it was almost monotone, Charev replied, "~You should watch your mouth fool. Those that tell lies tend to suffer the most.~" Amp put on a brave face, but was trembling on the inside. Somehow this creepy, calm voice scared Amp more than if Charev flew off the handle.
"~Well, at least my master knows how to dodge trees!"
"Look, our Pokemon are making friends."
"Err, making friends. Yeah... That's what they are doing." Fortunately, the stand-off was broken when the group started walking toward the Pokemon Center. Charev and Amp stayed on opposite sides of their trainers for the whole journey. The arrived at the Center at about 7:00 PM. "Thank goodness we're here. Another hour and we would have been caught in the dark. How's your nose doing by the way?"
"On one hand, the bleeding has stopped; on the other, the pain medication has worn off."
"... You were caring pain meds?"
"You do not have to worry. They were all over the counter; nothing like morphine or Oxycontin." After walking through the door, the human duo walked up to the counter while the Pokemon sat down in the lobby. "Hello Nurse Joy. Can-"
"Dear me, we have to get you into surgery right away! Chansey!" Kind barely had enough time to realize what was happening before Norse Joy and Cansey started dragging Kind toward a back room.
"I'll see you in the cafe," Nory called before Kind was out of earshot.
"Wait wait wait wait. You cannot just tell me you caught a Scyther and then not show it to me! That would be just cruel."

....After about an hour Kind joined Nory in the cafeteria with nothing more than a gauge taped over his nose. "Thank was fast," remarked Nory.
...."Yes it was. Fortunately, I only fractured the cartilage, so the correcting surgery was fairly minor. There should not even be a scar left after the injury full heals. I am going to the kitchen to get some dinner. Do you want anything?"
...."No thanks, I already ate." Nory went back to talking with his newest friend while Kind disappeared into the kitchen. He reappeared awhile later caring a bowl of spaghetti, a plate with 4 slices of pizza, and a bottle of root beer. "I said that I wasn't hungry."
...."I know. This is for me. I did not feel like getting up to get more food partway through my meal." Nory stared at Kind as he ate all of his food in silence.
....Bucket inquired, "~Master, do humans normally eat that much?~" Nory's expression was all of the response Bucket needed.
....Once Kind was done, he said good night and went to bed. Nory stayed up only a little later, gathering all the new items he would need for Bucket. After a pleasant sleep and nice breakfast, the pair left the Pokemon Center at about 8:00AM. They each had one of their Pokemon out with them. Kind had decided to let Chol out, who was currently zipping all across the path. Nory was carrying Bucket because he wanted to spend some quality time with his brand new teammate.

Also, I realized that I never answered your questions from earlier. Jara Hamee does have a meaning, but not in Hebrew. It is a reference to something from my childhood. The same is with Charev's parents and swarm, which I will write about a little bit more later.
PiladaEver is my Skarmony. I am a little embarreshed to admit that I do not remember exactly what his name means. It is something along the lines of (steel/iron/metal) + (bird/wing/feather).

- WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!:
Welcome back to everyone's favorite game show: What Happens Next! Plot, characters, conflict, themes, motifs; the fate of them all and so much more are at the mercy of our dice tonight. In case you are new, which is quite likely since this is the pilot, I will state rules. First, multiple scenarios are listed off, each is given a unique number. Then, the dice are thrown. Whatever numbers come up determines where the story will go!
We have an extra-special treat for you all tonight. 20 whole scenarios have been offered up, the largest amount to date. One of these chosen events must happen by the end of this in-game day.
1. Nory catches a Pokemon
2. Kind catches a Pokemon
3. Bucket fights in a battle with a trainer near a body of water
4. Bucket fights in a battle with a trainer away from any bodies of water
5. Bucket fights in a battle with a wild Pokemon near a body of water
6. Bucket fights in a battle with a wild Pokemon away from any bodies of water
7. Chol fights in a battle with a trainer near a body of water
8. Chol fights in a battle with a trainer away from any bodies of water
9. Chol fights in a battle with a wild Pokemon near a body of water
10. Chol fights in a battle with a wild Pokemon away from any bodies of water
11. Nory sees a Legendary Pokemon that Kind does not see
12. Kind sees a Legendary Pokemon that Nory does not see
13. Kind and Nory see a Legendary Pokemon
14. A Legendary Pokemon sees Kind and Nory
15. Kind and Nory come across a very badly injured Pokemon
16. Kind and Nory come across a poacher
17. Kind and Nory find the remains of a poacher's trap
18. Kind and Nory come across a trainer attacked by Team Rocket
19. Team Rocket attacks Kind and Nory
20. Natural 20 Bonus: 1 must be added or subtracted from all other scores
I will now roll the 3d20 (3 20-sided dice). The first is a 15; the crowd feels guilty for being excited. The next roll is a 7; I am sure that Chol's aqua-phobia is already kicking in. Now, for the final roll, the last chance for the coveted Natural 20 Bonus(TM)... [insert drum roll] 12; ouch, tough break for Nory.
Players you must pick one, and only one, of these scenarios for your characters to face next. I would suggest starting it off in the next post, but what do I know. I'm only the host of some game show called What Happens Next!

"Yes! Chol vs. Bucket, right here and right now." Nory throw a Pokeball toward the lake. In a flash of light, an excited Barboach splashed into the water.
"Alright Nory, if you really want to battle, I will. Just know that I do not intend to hold back. Chol, I choose you!"
"~You ready, shrimp.~"
"~You bet I am.~"

"You!"
"ME!"

I think that we should have it be awkward, have a lot of disagreement on the rules, the ending should be anti-climatic, and we should both walk away a little bitter. I figured that this is going to happen no matter what, so we might as well make it a part of the plan
.
These are the game mechanics that I think we should use:
General Rules- Spoiler:
- Every Pokemon has 30 Stamina Points
- The use of a Move costs 1 Stamina Points
- Damage results in a decrease of Stamina Points
-- This gives Pokemon with low offensive stats and high defensive or Speed stats a viable strategy
- Every trainer has 5 +1 points
- A +1 point can be spent to increase the result of any roll by 1
- A trainer can use as many +1 points as they want on a single roll
- Every Pokemon has 1 re-roll
- A Pokemon can use its re-roll on any Action that it preforms
- If a re-roll is used, all the dice rolled must be rolled again
- Moves that are not usually considered buffs, debuffs and/or environmental effects can be used as such
- Base stats are based on video game stats at Lv. 100 with perfect IV and no EV
- EV are gained through training, not defeating opponents
- Moves are learned through training
- At the start of a battle, both Trainers roll 1d20
- Trainer with the highest result gets the first
- In the event of a tie, both Pokemon will use one Move, both Moves will hit, and whichever Pokemon deals the most damage gets the first turn
-- This damage is real damage that remains for the battle, not just a way to break the tie
- Results of rolls is based on the honor system
-All roll difficulties are non-inclusive
-- e.g. rolling a 5 on a 5 difficulty roll results in a failure
- XdY,Z = X Y-sided dice are rolled and the roll's difficulty is Z
- Damage = (1d6) * Attack Stat / Defense Stat
Order of Turn- Spoiler:
-Trainer A declares Action (Attack, Buff, Debuff, or Environment)
-Trainer B declares Response (Dodge, Counter, or Block)
-Trainer A rolls.
-Trainer A states natural outcome of roll
-Trainer A states if they will use Pokemon A's reroll, and then states that rolls natural outcome
-Trainer A states how many of their +1 points they will to use
-Trainer A states result of roll when all factors are taken into account
-If the roll is high enough to pass, then Action happens
- Standby Phase
-If both Pokemon have <0 points of Stamina, then the round is a double knockout
-If only one Pokemon has <0 points of Stamina, the other Pokemon wins the round
-If both Pokemon have >0 points of Stamina, then it is Trainer B's Turn
Attacks- Spoiler:
1st: Trainer A declares Move being used
2nd: Trainer B declares their response (Dodge, Counter, Block)
- Dodge results in a 1d100, 50 + 2 * (Pokemon A's Speed - Pokemon B's Speed) / (Pokemon A's Speed + Pokemon B's Speed)
-- This equation = (Difference of Speeds) / (Average of Speeds)
- A Move can be used by Trainer B to increase the Dodge roll's difficulty
- 100 is always a hit and 1 is always a miss
- Counter results in Pokemon B using a Move and both Moves hitting, with a 1.25 Offensive Modifier being given to Pokemon A
- Block results in Pokemon A's move hitting, with a Defensive Modifier of 0.8 being given to Pokemon B's Defense Stat
-- A Move can be used to decrease the Defensive Modifier
-- X * 0.8 = X / 1.25
Buffs and Debuffs- Spoiler:
1st: Trainer A declares Move intending to create a buff or debuff
2nd: (Optional) Trainer B declares Move designed to neutralize the effects
3rd: 1d100, 20 (excluding any modifiers created in Step 2)
-- If an offensive move is used by either Pokemon, then the resulting damage is reduced by 1/4
Environmental Effects- Spoiler:
1st: Trainer A declares Move aimed at the arena
2nd: (Optional) Trainer B declares Move designed to neutralize the effects
3rd: 1d100, 30 (excluding any modifiers created in 2nd step)
-- Neither Pokemon can deal damage to the other
Status Effects- Spoiler:
-Poisoned= 3 points of damage every Standby Phase
- Paralyzed = Speed is reduced by 50%
- Asleep = Before every Move, roll a 1d6, number of turns the Asleep Status has persisted + 1
-- Passing this roll means that the Move happens normally and the Asleep Status has been cured
-- Failing this roll means that the Move does not happen, meaning that no Stamina has been spent
- Stamina increases by 1 at the end of the turn
- Burned = Moves cost 2 Stamina points to use
- Confused = Before every Move, roll a 1d6,3
-- Passing this roll means that the Move happens normally
-- Failing this roll means that the Move costs 2 Stamina and has no effect
- Every Standby Phase roll a 1d6,4
-- Passing cures the Confused Status
-- Frozen = Before every Move, roll a 1d6, number of turns the Frozen Status has persisted + 1
-- Passing this roll means that the Move happens normally and the Frozen Status has been cured
-- Failing this roll means that the Move does not happen, meaning that no Stamina has been spent
- Infatuated = Before every Move, roll a 1d6,4
-- Passing this roll means that the Move happens normally
-- Failing this roll means that the Move costs 1 Stamina and has no effect
- Every Standby Phase roll a 1d6,5
-- Passing cures the Infatuated Status

- how about for attacks you roll a d6 multiplied by the attack to defence ratio, like say i roll a 2 on barboaches water gun, so it's 2*(46/50)=1.84 rounded up to 2, and times four super effective, it does 8 damage. let's also agree that theatrics are what's important to us as opposed to winning. this is a story after all

I agree completely. I view this more as collaboratively writing a story than playing a game, and I am sure that we will both try to keep ourselves under control and stay objective when reviewing the combat system. However, I think that we need to realistically acknowledge that this is a new system that is bound to have problems and that we are emotionally invested in out characters, which for the record I think is a good thing. Like... Imagine if I win this match despite all of the advantages you have. It would only be natural for you to feel cheated, especially since I am making most of the rules.let's also agree that theatrics are what's important to us as opposed to winning. this is a story after all

What time zone do you live in and when is a good time for you? I am the Eastern Time Zone (east coast of USA) and I can do the battle anytime after 4:00, except on Thursdays.
