I need some advice.... Empty I need some advice....

I'm back from a short absence, and I've been thinking and need some advice. I have been creating my team from showdown after finally deciding the team I want but I'm at a crossroads.... Should I go ahead and keep training the team until I have it ready to challenge gym leaders or should I wait until S&M to evolve my pichu into alolan raichu.

Also do I need to raise them to level 100 or is 50 enough

Probably lv100, I think that's what most people use around here.

Nothing is really known about alolan raichu so waiting might be a safe option, it is less than a month away at this point.

No, if you have a pokemon over lvl 50 it automaticly scales back to lvl 50 in online battles. I would suggest keeping the pichu till S&M cause most likely Alolan Raicu will be better than regular raichu, but it's your choice.

A little late (sorry), but the only reason to ever train to 100 is if you want to use hyper training in Sun and Moon.

Don't you need to level it up once when it's at max happiness? Wait, no... Right? I can't remember. 'Been a while since I've played a Pokemon game I didn't make.
Also I was very confused while looking through this thread. I had to read everything twice before I got what was meant by "Pokemon S&M." I may need help.

Max happiness for pichu to pikachu then the thunder stone. I'm trying to get the team together just got to level them up to their final form since only one evolves past fifty teach moves and get my internet on my 3ds working
