Favorite RPG games (Not counting Pokemon)

I thought for my first post barring my introduction would involve one of my favorite genre of video game. The RPG. Now of course Pokemon is omitted considering... Well we're all here for Pokemon. Personally for me I'm a a big fan of Metriodvania RPGs so for my favorite I'd have to say Castlevania Aria of Sorrow

Final Fantasy is one of my favorite series, and IX is the best, hands down. It is also the last good Final Fantasy game. Even Friday the 13^th had the decency to reboot after 11 installments.

I haven't played a lot of RPGs (aside pokémon) but Guardian's crusade and FF VIII (partly 'cause I never played FF VII nor IX ) on the playstation were my favorites though it's mostly nostalgia talking ^_^'.

and Pokemon black and white 1 and 2 but Pokemon doesn't count saw yeah that's my list/played and enjoyed.

Can't say I have played too many RPG;s in my time aside from pokémon, were my favorites include Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Darkness. Since I'm the type of guy to latch onto one to three franchises and then shift between them and other interests. I do this to keep my options open to some extent while still keeping to what I like to do. The end goal being to cure me from waves of boredom that seem to wash over my back. However in the pursuit of the same goal a title here and there has gone under the radar to surprise me and in to make its impact.

Here as some examples of my favorite entries, with some added comments.

1. Bravely Default and Bravely Second

Can't pick a favorite between the two for too many reasons for me to mention here.

2. Fire Emblem Awakening

Say what you will about the game, but it was my entry title into the fire emblem franchise and I love all the more as my first time experience.

3. Star Wars The Old Republic

Despite being the mess that it is in terms of a MMO and Game in general I have very fond memories of this it and the time it got me into role-playing.

4. Yu Gi Oh World Champion 2011 Over the Nexus

Because card games on motorcycles! And its amoung the few Yu Gi Oh RPG;s I've played. Thinking about doing others through emulation. Might find a new favorite.

In any given case thanks for the thought starter and thread were I could see some other peoples' favorites. It was somewhat enlightening. Would also like to welcome LynWithLackofFlynn. Hope you enjoy your stay here on the forum.

I love the xenoblade franchise and atm x is my favorite

I enjoy the following rps outside pokemon.

Xenoblade - I enjoy the first one a lot but the second X I think it was not as good in my mind anyways.

Mother/earthbound 1,2 and 3- Sick rpg if you ever get the time play it worth the time for sure.

Yuigoh, The falsebound Kingdom, Beast yugioh game: however plays more like a fire emblem kinda game you move the monsters into teams and battle against people from the  first show.

I aslo Enjoy, All the paper Mario games outside sticker star, thoose are a blast to play as well,   mario rpg is great as well.

I remember that Yi-Gi-Oh game! It was so awesome. I wish more games had that type of gameplay.

someone just mentioned rpgs. *heavy breathing* but seriously, I have a laundry list of RPG's I like. Gotta say my current fav is neir automata.

Hmm a tricky one, but I gotta say mine was Final Fantasy X and X2!

Final Fantasy X Yuna and her awesome Summons, (summoning Bahamut for the first time gave me chills), Kimahri (I loved that big blue Lion dude!), Waka, Lulu, Rikku ... all of them!

X-2 had the dresspheres, Paine, LeBlanc (she was freaking hilarious!), Waka being Lulu's baby daddy, I just loved the entire sequel!

Mostly these 2 had some of my favourite songs ever: Sutaki Da Ne, Real Emotion and 1000 Words. Brilliant music that I still sing along to to this day!

I also enjoyed the first 1 instalments of the Shadow Hearts series, the 3rd game lost my interest when they got a whole new cast!

Also not sure if this counts but I loved Kingdom Hearts too, seeing all these Disney Characters tossed into a game together with the likes of Squall, Yuffie, Aerith (at least Cloud got to see her again in this universe) but especially battling it out against Sephiroth in Olympus Colosseum ... I never won lol!

But Pokémon was, still is and always will be first in my heart above all over RPGs!
