The Professor's Spritework Empty The Professor's Spritework

Post by Professor Morel Fri Jan 06, 2017 2:29 am

About time I set up my new art page....

Going ahead and placing this here instead of the Other Art section because of how long I was counting pixels to do this. Anyhow, without further adu, here's some linework&detailing inspired by my blitzing through Owari No Seraph's two seasons in less than a week (I love the uniforms in this show).
The Professor's Spritework IN40Pu2

It was only after rewatching the entire series that it struck me - Yuu and myself look vaguely alike... All Yuu would have to do is put on my hat, drink plenty of tea, sound pretentious, and stop shouting words like "Family" or "Die, blood-suckers" and no-one would know the difference, if I do say so myself.

P.S.:

these look really nice! i feel like the uniforms could use some more shading, though. and the white one could benefit from colored outlines instead of all black. but overall i like the aesthetic.

and nice use of the hat ehehe >uob

Ya did good on these, Morel. Though the moth of the white one has this 'tooth' and I'm not sure if that's intentional.

The top row features the actual image I spent more than a few hours working on, with the bottom two being merely playful recolors. Though as I'm enjoying the look of the White one the more I look at it, perhaps I'll correct it along the way.

But yes, Future, the white one is indeed meant to have a tooth (as well as red eyes) given that its the vampire variant, as portrayed by their characteristic white/black garb, red eyes, and fangs. At least that's their prominent form of portrayal in Owari no Seraph...

Ooh, i may not know the origin series, but there look quite good.
And yes for future reference anything like this with 1 pixel thick outlines is pixel art.
Heh, that hat is pretty stylish.

(Before I completely forget about these...) A minuscule and less sexy update inspired by the deep-sea horror, mystery game SOMA.
The Professor's Spritework Fou5V7C

The right version is merely to display the suit's assumed normal appearance without the WAU virus - i.e. the spindly, glowing blue growths all over, etc.
I personally think it turned out rather well given the game is a First-Person experience, and what minor glimpses of the player's suit are received display a rather meticulously detailed uniform. Could've performed better on the stance, however; a bit generic for my tastes.... *shrug*

From when I joined the forums two years ago, all the way to my present third year of tenuring, behold the professor's 3-Year Collection!

So this was done solely for purposes of self-cataloging and isn't in the slightest an excuse to not be working on something new, why do you ask?
That being said. There are a few sprites I've never uploaded to the Silver League that are here, and I'm pretty sure there are a few I've lost along the way and can't find... Such is life. I've also purposefully excluded several because they were essentially variations of a single sprite, or because I despised it so much that I refused to post such an abomination twice. Either/or, as they say.

P.S. Llamaminister is responsible for the Abra in Year-2, as well as Year-3's eye-patch man's hair (je vous remercie, LM).
P.P.S. The eye-patch man in Year Three does not have a cigarette. That is a lollipop being devoured so quickly smoke is coming from the candy's stem. Yes, that ought to be a good enough excuse.
P.P.P.S I've thought about editing most of these since many don't quite reach my present standards (for whatever my standards are worth) but, that seems like a lot of work. We'll see.

I hope you know I had to fix my web browser so imgur stuff is actually visible again for me x.x
But hey, I remember a lot of these. I rarely go back and edit things, so I understand if you don't want to.
The creature in year one made of Lucario and Zoroark parts is quite cool.

I've no idea if there's any other way to link images here aside from Imgur. Then again, I've not bothered looking too hard...

Several people seem to use the hosting the forum comes with (servimg I think it is, if you click the 'host image' button), but I use tinypic.
You can use what you want, it was my stupid web browser giving me a hassle.

Myself, I used tinypic for a bit, but Imgur is overall just a better sight to use, I find.

Wow I really like your work! Especially the cloth and fabric details are all really well done, I can't do those well at all ha.

I gotta ask though and sorry if you've already answered it before, but who is the blue kuriboh/ blueberry venonat-looking dude?

More Linework&detailing alongside a couple lazy recolors.
I'll get back to do trainer sprites one of these days, eventually.

P.S. If you can guess who the coloration variants in the right and middle are based off, then you know me too well.

Haha, thank you! Truth be told, I started off with horrible stick figures and simply went from there out of necessity. Have to get ideas out of your head somehow, I suppose.

As for the blue Kuriboh from the innermost circle of hell, it's a pokéfusion of Venonat and Omastar based off the Protopet from Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando that I keep around simply for everyone's reactions. Can see the commercial for the galaxy's worst best pet here:
