I have moved the topic. There.
Anyway, rule number 1 is do not upscale your pixel art. It's hard to even assess them that way.

Re: Aclyo starters
upscale is where the sprites are 2x2 so your making 1 pixel with 4 pixels. normal pokemon sprites are just 1 singular pixel and should not be atrociously upscaled as you have done with all your sprites that I have seen. the only time where upscaling is acceptable are with fan games made with RPG maker for some unknown reason need upscaled sprites. if you go into paint and adjust the image size by dividing the length and the width by 2 and if its still too big divide it by 2 again

Use a different program, like paint, gimp, or photoshop. Even so, not having used gamemaker, I don't know why it would export sprites at a scale larger than normal.

I use it because I wasn't aware of other programs and I can reside the canvas to smaller or larger scales

Assuming that Acro is talking about RPG XP, it requires you to upscale the sprites. For example,
This sprite? The size of it is a normal third gen sprite. (Though blurry, since I just rip it out the trainer sheet and halved it's size.) If I were to have this sprite in a game maker game, this is what it would look like compared to the size you need.
This applies for all sprites in the game. If you don't upscale them, it will be small.
Of course you can't make any revisions to the sprites if you don't save the normal version. If you cut the size by half to get it back to the normal size they just become blurry.
Re: Aclyo starters
Yeah, that's true, but we are simply talking about actual assessing the sprite itself, in which upscaling makes it harder to truly critique it. I know that in RPG Maker, it HAS to be upscaled or be tiny, but posting here, we would prefer it to be 1 to 1.
Re: Aclyo starters
Thanks for the advice I'm going to try to redo the sprites tough they're probably not going to be any better cause of color scheme

Re: Aclyo starters
okay this was practice. I tried cleaning up some of the mess and use darker colors in shading. Also don't know how the background is black.[img]url=https://servimg.com/view/19525047/9][/img]
I resized the image because it looks small. Any tips on to how to make it nicer will be appreciated!!!

its nice that they are shaded now But I'm sorry to say that its still upscaled I would judge it more but because you have the sprite In a black box and its upscaled theres not much to judge

Have you tried using other official sprites as reference for size and shading?

Re: Aclyo starters
you should probably do what Verys suggested. on another note now that its not upscaled it could use a bit more shading and there is double pixelization almost everywhere in the outlining of the sprite. try not to use purely black outlines for the sprite try using a darker colour (or a closer colour) to the colour of the pokemon for the outline
