Custom Trainer Sprites

So I made some custom trainer sprites based off my Minecraft skin... What do you guys think? Should I submit them to the show, or do they need more work? I also attached a picture of the original skin.

(I recommend downloading them, not looking at them in the browser, it's a lot easier to see the little details)

It's not bad, but it could definitely use some work. Firstly, the robe looks really stiff, and it doesn't seem to flow naturally. The different shades are also really close to being the same, so it looks flat. I could see this being a really good sprite with some clean up, but as it stands, it is "meh".

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I guess I was a bit subtle on the shading... It's my first trainer sprite ever though, so I'm not really surprised that it isn't great.

It is a good first effort. It's better than my first trainer sprite, that's for sure.

Thanks! As it said on the image, I put about 7-8 hours into that thing so far. Not a ton as pixel art goes (not my first rodeo for pixel art altogether, just pokemon), but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

It's great to see a new, blooming Pokemon spriter on the forum. As you go, you'll become better and faster at it, like most things, so just keep up your efforts and keep spriting. I can't wait to see the next thing you make.

This is a nice first sprite and I really like the overall design of it ^^ The body and the cloak look kind of stiff. Having the arms bending a little more would give them a more relaxed look. And the way the perspective is on the hood makes it look like it's crooked. The opening is facing us while the head is more off to the side. Other than that, it's really cool and I love the glowy effects around the book and pokeball as well as the little detail on the book. But yeah, keep practicing and you'll improve a lot over time ^^

Thanks for the feedback! I updated the sprites a bit with some less subtle shading, that's about all I have time for right now.

That makes it look less flat, so good job. Keep up the good work. I'll be keeping my eye out for more of your work.

Also, feel free to use any of the Pokeballs from my Pokeball sprite sheet. They're all made for sprites of this scale, but have more detail than the Pokeballs the in game trainer sprites have.

Posted a new update, fixed a bit more shading and did some small detail work.

Nice! The hood looks a lot better now since it matches the direction the head is facing, and the detail on the shoulders more accurately represent the skin he sprite is based on. Good job

Thanks! Now my main problem is the robe, I must've spent half an hour at least on just the shape. It's going to be a pain to rework... Ugh. Oh well, better to do it than to not.

Sometimes things are a pain to rework and resprite, but it's usually worth it. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

True, it sucks if your long work needs to be fixed but it will be worth it.

Reworked the shading and detailing on the red parts of the robe to try and alleviate the stiffness, what do you guys think?
