The Axolotl is a very rare and endangered Mexican Water Salamander the has the awesome ability of extreme regeneration, allowing it to grow back almost all body parts very quickly compared to other animals that can regenerate. It can even body parts from other Axolotls and can even regrow its entire head. It also is adorable.

I have heard of that little creature~

-black and blue on koi and other carp are actually the same pigment, but one colors the top scales, and the other colors the underneath, which makes it appear blue from being diluted from the non-pigmented scales.

-chameleons don't change color to blend in, but instead change based on mood. Grey tree frogs, on the other hand, can alter their color from grey, to brown, to green, in order to blend in to their surroundings.

(Something I just remembered and thought was interesting);
-Grey treefrogs are tetraploids, meaning they have 4 (2 sets) of the same chromosomes. Humans and many other animals are diploid, meaning we only have 2 (1 set).

The term "rule of thumb" is based on an old time law that stated you couldn't beat your wife with anything wider than your thumb.

Enjoy thinking of this the next time you say "rule of thumb".
