Does anyone else habitually hold A whenever a pokeball closes?

Post by Ariakai on Wed Sep 28, 2016 4:53 pm

Ok so, before someone chimes in saying "This is a myth, it doesn't actually effect catch rates!" I know that, but I didn't know that in middle school when I first heard the rumor that if you hit A as soon as the pokeball closes (or in some games, makes the catch sound) it'll increase the chances of a pokemon staying in the ball. Even when I looked into catch rates in late highschool on serebii and even though I don't even calculate around the alledged 50% increase anymore, or tell people that it works anymore, I still do it out of habit and for some reason not doing it feels weird, even though it's just a placebo effect.

So, curious if anyone else out there is like me and mashes A out of kneejerk reaction.

Yes, every single time.

Oh my god it's not just me. :O I tried to stop doing it but something inside me felt like I'd fail too often. I've even done it with the damn master ball.

I've done this from when I first play it and still do it today, mainly because I believe it works and I'll likely never stop because of that.
