A bit of competitive news Empty A bit of competitive news

Post by Istas Wed Jun 29, 2016 11:38 am

So Pokemon released a statement recently basically declaring that breeding from hacked parents is still cheating. While its not really new, it basically means it is illegal in any kind of official tournament or unofficial tournament that still abides by the official rules such as the SL tournaments. This basically means there's a lot of cheaters out there with 'legit' Pokemon.

This video informs people on it and shows some that do. I just thought I'd bring this up for everyone and raise awareness on the matter, even if it is quite obvious, however for Pokemon to officially declare it kind of makes it noteworthy enough to share.

See.. there's no way to catch these people though. It's the honor system.
I mean, it's nice to try.. but good luck.

I'd ask what their opinion is on RNG, bu well, their tournaments require all pokemon to be 3DS bred, and RNG isn't possible in gen 6.. but you can still transfer perfect Dittos for breeding.
RNG is also legal on SL.

Yeah, but I mean you don't really gain anything from hacking a legal pokemon in. You just save (a lot of) time. Of course it was never legal to do it on tournaments.

yeah, I thought I might bring it up, I wouldn't be surprised if new members or people new to competitive didn't know so, also the fact that all the top VGC people hack theirs is kinda sketchy. I honestly only use Pokemon I catch in the wild and everything works out fine.

Well breeding takes a very long time. The particular VGC player mentioned in the video - Wolfey Glick does hack, but has stated that he hacks only when playing the game for fun and not on VGC.

Breeding doesn't even take long anymore, now that destiny knot does what it does.. there's no excuse people have, they're just being lazy.
The sad thing is, with the QR codes, they made it easier for people to exploit their system than ever before.

Yeah, but I mean pokemon is about having fun not putting in "the hard work". And there is not really too much fun in breeding, especially if you want to build a team just to goof arround with (aka wierd sets and not very good pokémon). I'm not saying that's acceptable for competitions or leagues that specificly ban hacking, but I see nothing bad about it.

Breeding is honestly fun for me (except when shinies get the wrong abilities T-T)
If you don't want to breed and just want to battle, play Showdown. If you're playing just for fun then you also don't care about EVs, natures, IVs etc.. so why even hack.

cause a guy had a raichu with a dream ball and it sparked a bit of drama resulting in pokemon directly coming out and saying the use of pokemon bred from hacked parents is banned, that's what I gathered from it, not entirely sure if I'm accurate there though

I understand both sides and this is my opinion on it.
I think cheating is bad. If you say you don't have enough time to breed, then how do you have enough time to play pokémon in the first place? I know it's easier to use but hard work pays off and that's something special, in my opinion.

While I don't hate cheaters who use "legal" pokémon, I hate the cheaters who try to justify cheating. Just admit that you cheat and then let it go. What do the other people, other than Nintendo, want to do? They are going to hit you because you cheat? I don't think so.
I do also hate cheaters who use illegal pokémon online. While it is more difficult to do there are a few who go through from time to time and I hate that. It's good and fun if you use illegal pokémon with your friends if they agree but don't go to battlespot with them.

Because not everyone plays competitively, and a lot of people like playing casually. I rarely breed because I don't like wasting the time to do it since it does nothing for me.

I mean, this hard work is just kind of pointless when you gain nothing from it, other than lose time. Yeah it does bring a kind of satisfaction, but that's about it.

Im a bit late on this but in my opinion hacking is ok for like fun and testing teams cause it just saves you time (but then again you could just use showdown ) but if the rules are dont hack then don't hack and if you play competitively where your not allowed to hack just spend the extra time breeding
