Future Pokemon Training Roleplay
Granted, there will be no sign-up templates or an explanation of gameplay mechanics quite yet (I do have ideas in mind, though.). As I mentioned before to Prof. Morel, my folks and I are heading on vacation soon and I probably won't be able to get my hands on the laptop until I'm back.
Consider this thread a way of gauging interest in the roleplay I'm going to try to arrange. I'm looking for about 2-3 players, aside from myself. I want to keep the numbers of players that low so that, once the story of the roleplay starts, there's a more close-knit way for the characters to grow and get to know each other. You know that saying about it being better to have a few close friends than a bunch of acquaintances?
The only exceptions to this idea are NPCs used for story purposes, as they will inevitably come up. I also think a good guideline to follow here is that anyone can only control NPCs that they made, anything from a Nurse Joy, Officer Jenny, or gym leader to random citizens to talk to. In this way, the NPCs are treated much the same way as your own Pokémon.
The story to the roleplay is... nonexistent, which is the point. Think of it like a mingling place for different OCs. Granted, I think it would be simpler to have the characters be roughly the same age as each other, so this would be something to work out later, regarding how old the character in this normally are and how they would have changed in time, if needed.
This is very much a bonding, make-it-up-as-you-go Pokémon journey storyline. All the characters end up converging together at one point and travel together for their own reasons, more like the anime story. I will only ask that the character in question have at least one starter Pokémon, and by this I mean, say, any one Pokémon within a certain stat range that goes through two evolutions. Mine, for example, would be Litwick. We wouldn't be sticking to the games' starters as this would take place in a unique region, though you are fully free to choose an actual starter if you want. There would be plenty of opportunities to catch additional Pokémon to build your team, but know you are allowed to have anywhere between one Pokémon to a full party at the start of the roleplay as long as it makes sense regarding your character's experience.
This almost goes without saying, but also no Legendaries in your party until the story reaches a point where it demands the legend's involvement. (Trust me, I'm giving up a bit here too... I always love to have Mew and/or Keldeo at my side). The only exception I can think of is like with the rival of the Silver League comics, the Legend Hunter. Barring a story like that, the no-legend rule is in place. Glimpsing one, however, or having a legend intervene at certain parts of the story, is fair play. It just would be a rare occurrence, like glimpsing in the first episode in the anime or intervention in a scenario like the climax to a movie or game. Those kinds of proportions are needed to bring a legend in, should the story ever get to that.
As this thread is about gathering interest, I won't bother making a character sheet just yet, but if you already have one prepared just post it here, or if there is already one posted in the Character Sheet thread, then just tell me and I'll make note of it. If I see enough interest here to start, then I'll go on to the more technical aspects of how this would work... if I don't see it before my vacation, then it will just have to wait until I get back.
Any takers?

Well, I would be very interested in taking part in this roleplay. Seems like it could lead to a bunch of interesting and fun story plots, and I'd love to take part in that.
Re: Future Pokemon Training Roleplay
As this RP is inclined to be ranged between 3-4 actors total, I'm hesitant to throw my hat in and possibly exclude another. So essentially I am interested, as well, but willing to remove said hat if there's an over abundance of members.
Also. If anyone does feel like creating a pre-emptive character sheet for the RP might I recommend you consider this thread: https://silverleague.forumotion.com/t699-pokemon-trainer-files ? It is designed for character sheets within the Pokémon World, so... ahem (feel free to utterly disregard my selfish plug-in).

Ok, I'm back, so I'll work out more information as time/energy allows. I have two people expressing interest now, so technically we can move into getting this started. In the meantime, while I get the mechanics in order, we can just wait and see on a fourth member here.

I would gladly take part. But, as with Morel, I wouldn't want to take the place of somebody who is more interested.

Well, with a smaller rp like this one, that would pose a problem, but we'll cross that bridge if more people show up.

I won't pretend to know what sizing is best for this RP, but I can't imagine 3 +1 would be too concerning. Even so, if it comes down to it, Verys and I could flip a coin. Or something.
Still. Since we remain in the waiting period for more potential candidates, I'll just sit back and relax until then.

Ok well, jeez... I actually spent a lot of time today on something that shouldn't have been as time consuming (all because the computer I'm on didn't have Word... I'll spare the story).
Anyway, so you lot know, I'll be pulling everything here together tomorrow, most likely.

I'm fine if I can be one of those characters who appears rarely, maybe once or twice throughout the RP. Or I can simply watch. Take me out of the "coin toss."

Re: Future Pokemon Training Roleplay
So... I was gone for a long time. And I came here to say I'll probably be gone for a time to come as well. Something came up.
You see, while I'm not a particularly busy person, there are currently internet issues with my home. My laptop was recently repaired, but wouldn't you know it that the household had been switching to Time Warner, as I'm sure a lot of the others on the internet has been complaining. Basically, my laptop can't stay connected for more than like 30secs at a time. That... is just infuriating. I pretty much refuse to interact with my laptop on these grounds, pretty much for that machine's own safety.
Now... we discovered a wired connection works wonders to fix the problem. The BluRay player never loses a connection, after all. So, my father is using an Ethernet cord. But... my computer and set-up area is not somewhere that you can easily arrange a wired connection. So, if I wanted to come on here more regularly (which I do), I would need to constantly go back to my dad's computer basically revolving around his work schedule, to get on while he's away. That... is a very bad way of running around while trying to run an rp.
So basically, I have the outline of the mechanics worked out, but without constant internet access, there's not much I can do to get this started. You can expect me back and the actual game to start when the router for my household is replaced. Which is... whenever my folks can accomplish this. I'm sorry.
For now, please, I'd appreciate you guys getting ready by posting a character sheet here with your basic information and visuals if you have them. Know that I haven't forgotten my little arrangement here! Things have just gotten in the way recently. Concerning computers. If you don't have a character sheet of your own, most information other than name, age, and look would be optional, but I recommend the set-up from the character sheet thread I mentioned in my original post.
Again, sorry for really not being on... at all. Well, um, sidenote: snatched myself a shiny Phantump on Halloween. A belated Happy Halloween to you all.

Re: Future Pokemon Training Roleplay
This is the character sheet for myself I posted in Professor Morel's Trainer Files thread. As I said, you're more than welcome to follow suit or use whichever basic character sheet format you are comfortable with, as long as it lists the basics. The only difference with mine here is that, at the beginning of a rp, I may not start out with all these Pokémon and they may not have the exact moves listed, depending on what time/level we're going to start at.
MyGenderisLitwick wrote:Name: Quincy Battista (nickname Spider)
Appearance: average build, dyed blue hair, black and purple trainer outfit. (Look to profile pic for visual)
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Occupation: Ruins Maniac Intern
Goal: Study the legends of the Pokémon world. Spending much time in the ruins, she has formed a strong kinship with many Unown.
Personality/Disposition: Comes off as very awkward and creepy sometimes with the looks of a Hex Maniac in terms of fashion sense. Simplistic, brave mindset. Sees beauty in the strange and unusual and nature in the supernatural.
Affiliations: Ruins Maniacs - profession. Hex Maniacs - no official connection, but she admires them.
Mental Alignment: Chaotic Good
Bio: Spider grew up much in awe regarding many legendary Pokémon in the world. The one that caught her eye the most was Mew. She took the more scientific path in Pokémon training by looking to ancient ruins to tell the stories of Pokémon's past. Spider was not given Pokémon of her own until she had completed her basic studies and started internship.
Equipment: Pokéballs, food supplies, rope/rock climbing equipment, excavation kit, book of Pokémon legends for pleasure reading - as well as a book on myths such as ghosts and vampires.
Partner: None, but I also want to note here that this is because "Spider" has never been used for a long-term roleplay and the idea is open should this profile be used for that purpose.
Other Info: Has been trained in fortune telling at a young age, adept at reading both tarot cards and Nordic runes. Strong creative talent, despite scientific career path. Fear of clowns and elevators.
*Morel's Fanfic: Sure
Team
Pokémon Species: Unownx???
Gender: Genderless
Moves: Hidden Power
Ability: Various
Personality/Nature: Various
Backstory: No Unown exclusively belongs to Spider, but, having spent much of her life looking into the ruins, many would regard her in a friendly or playful manner and would certainly help to protect her from danger, should they be around at the time. No Unown is actually captured and on her team at a given time, but this is an alliance that should be noted.
Pokémon Species: Litwick
Gender: Male
Moves: Shadow Ball, Hex, Heat Wave, Inferno
Ability: Infiltrator
Personality/Nature: Modest, Mischievious. Very playful, baby-like.
Backstory: The Pokémon given to Spider when starting her internship, essentially her starter Pokémon. Took to her very quickly. Spider keeps a Dusk Stone as a necklace in preparation for if Litwick wants to become a Chandelure when or after he evolves into Lampent.
Pokémon Species: Togepi
Nickname (optional): Cutiepie
Gender: Male
Moves: Ancient Power, Dazzling Gleam, Last Resort, Rock Smash
Ability: Hustle
Personality/Nature: Gentle, Vey Finicky. Very playful, baby-like.
Backstory: Hatched from an abandoned egg at a Daycare Center. Took quickly to both Spider and Litwick. Litwick and Cutiepie are constant playmates.
**Note here: This is as far as the list would normally go in regards to what Pokémon Spider, as a character, would have on hand in regards to context in roleplay. Should a roleplay happen, there would most likely be other Pokemon (often ghost or psychic) that would be on hand depending on context. However, there is one more Pokémon to cover if I somehow want to work all of my favorites in covering my imaginary life/fighting in Pokémon that would most likely be left for later events in said roleplay, if it happens at all.**
Pokémon Species: Lucario
Gender: Male
Moves: Strength, Rock Smash, Dig, Earthquake
Ability: Steadfast
Personality/Nature: Mild, Likes to thrash about. Very loyal and dedicated friend. Lucario, however, finds Spider to be too lax with the other Pokémon and is like a second-in-command when training them. He is also forced to act as a kind of babysitter for whenever Spider needs to leave her Pokémon behind, leaving him to reluctantly care for Litwick and Cutiepie.
Backstory: Found Spider in danger and saw her dedication to Pokémon, both for the ones she cared for and in regards to the ancient ones. Companionship with many ghost and psychic type Pokémon also indicates a kind of spiritual power within her. For these reasons, Lucario decided to join her.
*Possibly, in the future Spider may come across Lucarionite as well, but this is not usually a given.*

Team
Name: Sootaf
Pokémon Species: Quilava
Gender: Male
Moves: Double Team, Protect, Flame Wheel, Rock Smash
Ability: Blaze
Personality/Nature: Modest
Backstory: In order to become Professor Elm's intern, it was required that Kind registered as a Pokemon trainer so that he had a way to defend himself while in the field. As with any other trainer, Kind had the 3 starters to pick from. He chose the Cindaquil because the other two were more active and loud. Their relationship started off rocky, with each seeming cold toward the other. However, after a year they were inseparable. Now Sootaf, who became a Quilava about a month ago, is one of the few individuals Kind is able to show his emotions around.
Name: Chol
Pokémon Species: Larvitar
Gender: Male
Moves: Bite, Leer, Ancient Power, Sandstorm
Ability: Sand Veil
Personality/Nature: Brave
Backstory: Professor Elm gave an egg to Kind that contained a Pokemon that had been specially breed in order to have the potential of becoming a top-tier fighter. Kind realized immediately that this egg was as extraordinary opportunity and a crucial challenge; his career will be greatly affected by how this Pokemon is raised. Chol hatched about 3 months ago. He is affectionate, energetic and impulsive, which are the personality traits that Kind has the greatest trouble with.

Re: Future Pokemon Training Roleplay
- My character sheet and team:
- Name: Henrik A. Silktree
Appearance: Sloppily-dressed black suit minus the blazer, plus black suspenders, loose tie, and fingerless gloves; is lean with light blonde hair.- Sprite:
Age: 16
Occupation: Ruin Maniac (Delinquent). A fond explorer of ruins and old mansions, Henrik is constantly travelling in search of such extravagant locales. His income is derived from odd jobs--usually in exchange for food and board--and Pokémon battles, but he's mostly floating by on a small case of a million dollars acquired from his original employers.
Goal: Putting distance between himself and Team Rocket, but, more importantly, exploring ruins and making discoveries to record in his journal.
Personality/Disposition: Quite casual and friendly to the point of unconscious flirtation. Some would say he's too casual given his unkempt dress and general disregard of potential embarrassment, but these outward appearances are derived from a mind of humorous apathy and self-indulgent assertion.
Affiliations: Team Rocket, Grunt (ex); Professor's Aide (~)
Mental Alignment: True Neutral
Bio: Henrik grew up in Unova around stories of his family's old life in the Kanjoh area before moving here. Growing fed up with his family's so-called "hypocrisy" on how Unova was a much better place despite all their wistful stories, he left for his parents' roots in Kanto at the age of ten. There, without much to sustain himself and with little to no guiding force, he was caught up in the ranks of Team Rocket and lived the Pokémafia lifestyle until stealing a large sum of money from one of their operations and fleeing the region. He's been travelling, and exploring, ever since.
Equipment: Million dollar suitcase, leather journal
Partner (optional): His Pokémon Lux and Q have been with Henrik ever since departing Unova; they are his most trusted and beloved companions.
Other Info: The "Professor's Aide (~)" in Affiliations is in reference to Henrik's eventual recruitment into the field of Pokémon research, which I figure ought to happen throughout the events of the RP, so it isn't a current affiliation.
Team
Pokémon Species: Luxio
Nickname (optional): Lux
Gender: Female
Aesthetics (optional): A silver bell tied around Lux's neck, has a soothing chime.
Moves: Bite, Charge, Spark, Iron Tail
Ability: Guts
Personality/Nature: Adamant; fiercely loyal to her trainer and incredibly suspicious of others, typically barring fangs at approachers, but has been raised to wait for Henrik's command before attacking. However, should anyone harm the trainer, Lux will even emerge uncalled from her Pokéball to viciously defend Henrik.
Backstory: Though initially a pet Shinx, Lux became a fully-fledged companion after a young Henrik brought her along to Kanto. Lux's aggressive tendencies were heightened while she and Henrik were apart of Team Rocket, and her trainer has been attempting to coax the internal venom out of the Luxio ever since leaving the criminal organization. His attempts at an attitude-adjustment have produced little, if any, worthwhile results.
Pokémon Species: Magnemite
Nickname (optional): Cueball, Q
Gender: N/a
Moves: Discharge, Magnet Bomb, Thunder Wave, Light Screen
Ability: Magnet Pull
Personality/Nature: Jolly; somewhat of an electrical glutton with the amount of power it consistently draws, but seems to be happy following Henrik around regardless of its master's actions.
Backstory: Cueball was one of a multitude of Magnemites to infest the Silktree home in Unova after their pet Shinx had delivered numerous shockingly powerful bursts of electricity to members of the mail service. The first 'mite to appear had gotten stuck in Henrik's closet, much to the surprise of its owner, and the boy had become positively enthralled with the Pokémon. However, the Magnemite and Shinx's electrical discharges led to the eventual overwhelming infestation of the magnet Pokémon. Although Henrik had done away with the Magnemites, he secretly kept the first to appear, which he had previously named Cueball.
Pokémon Species: Cacturne
Nickname (optional): Scarface
Gender: Male
Aesthetics (optional): A yellow, red Focus Band tied around his left arm. Scar's jagged barbs have a slight purple tint.
Moves: Feint Attack, Needle Arm, Pin Missile, Ingrain
Ability: Water Absorb
Personality/Nature: Quiet; it is shadiness incarnate and seems to ooze dark intentions
Backstory: This Cacturne was one of a number of Pokémon to be stolen by Henrik and others in a Rocket operation. These 'mons were to be sold to the Safari Zone in Fuchsia City and sold they were. Only some of them escaped to terrorize the city, chief among them the Cacturne. As Henrik was the one to track down the Pokémon, his leading Admin allowed it to be a gift to the young grunt. Henrik named him Scarface.
