The first part of Jem's Undertale playthrough is up on Youtube which means I get to start flooding this thread with fanart 
sorry not sorry
But yeah, I'm mostly working two compilations; Jem as all bosses (including minibosses) and Jem in all equipment sets~ I haven't started the former yet, but I've got a couple for the latter already done.(Since it's not really that huge spoiler territory with the equipments imo but I'll still shove it under a spoiler anyway.
I apologize if they're not that great, its like 5am where I am and I'm not really at top shape (these are mostly just relax doodles, I'm also not the best at spikey hair kek)

To be honest... They're amazing! I don't see any problems with them. As doodles they are really good. As drawings little bit less, but still good.

I don't see why everyone has this huge obsession with Undertale. I mean, it's fun I guess, but it's not all that amazing.

Ryan undertale is fun because of the story and the characteristics of each character. everyone has a story + multiple ways to end the game.also there are a few secrets in undertale such as

But it's pretty much just Earthbound. In all honesty, it's so Earthbound-y, it feels kinda stale. I mean, the closest comparison to another game I have for this in overall feel is Mother 3, and the characters in that feel...better. Just because it has replay value doesn't make it as amazing as everyone says. It's just another quirky RPG. Honestly, Earthbound and Mother (Same franchise, for those who don't know) are better in my opinion. The story of Mother 3 is WAY more engaging and touching, while also maintaining it's quirkiness, and has plenty of dark undertones all throughout. The only real thing I can give to Undertale is the great replay value. Otherwise, it's Earthbound/Mother with a Bullet Hell mixed in.

Yeah it is kinda just Earthbound/Mother but with bullet hell, but don't forget that Toby did a Earthbound and a Mother hack before doing Undertale, it's not surprising that it has such a huge influence on Undertale, and sure it might not be for everyone, and it's understandable, but for the reasons why I have a huge obsession with it... well...LlamaMinister wrote:I don't see why everyone has this huge obsession with Undertale. I have to agree that it's not perfect, but the fact it's mostly done by one person and has a lot of attention to detail just really gets to me, and I love it. Seriously, you can call Papyrus in almost every room in the game starting from the start of Snowdin forest to the end of Hotland, and then once you befriend Undyne there's more phone conversations. How the hell do you have the time to put phone conversations for at least a half of the game, twice. Not to mention the amount of Neutral endings you can get just from whom you killed, left alive and befriended.
Fun fact, I saw this game as hugely overrated and refused to touch it, considering everyone on Youtube started let's playing it left and right, I gave it a fair shot and enjoyed the game a whole lot. I still do find it overrated, Undertale is hella overrated, but it's understandable to why. The game punishes you for the decisions you made (Like killing Toriel and resetting/loading afterwards, Flowey knows abou tit, or killing Papyrus, you dirty brother killer, and obviously deciding to have a bad time by killing everything) and plays with your mind, it's just the small things that messes with you that I enjoy a lot.
Honestly I enjoyed Genocide route more than Pacifist route in a gameplay sense, aside from grinding for enemies which can take a shit load of time unless you abuse that one trick, it was more fun in the sense of that Undyne's and Sans' fight was more challenging and fun. It's kinda funny too because as a old Shin Megami Tensei and Persona 1/2 fan, I really love being able to interact with the enemy, and I wished that more games used that mechanic, and actually being able to dodge attacks in form of a bullet hell mmm I just love it. (Which is why Mettaton and Omega Flowey will always be my favorite fights because I'm such a 2hu nerd ugh I wished Mettaton NEO was a real fight so I could've had a proper shmup fight ;; )
In terms of Pacifist route, it's really just a huge story feels-fest and puzzles after puzzles (I consider trying to figure out how to spare a monster a puzzle), and I have to be honest, interacting with Alphys made me feel rather uncomfortable for a while, especially during a certain True-Pacifist fight. She reminds me so much of myself; you know the socially anxious type who lies to people to try to look cool on occasion, loves anime and manga and is bit of a nerd. Thinks that all she does is hurt people and thinks she's hated upon type? Yeah, that's pretty much me irl in a nutshell. I connected so much with Alphys it literally hurts, yet seeing her get more confident made me so happy. Still, majority of the cast is rather one dimensional in my honest opinion, but the story and dates are adorable and amazing.
The game has flaws like every other game, but I still love the game for what it is and I love finding all the small things in it during my multiple runs (I almost have 72 hours clocked into it on Steam ''orz), and I'm riding the fandom train all the way to the end.
...and I'm a huge supporter of the theory that Chara is the voice of the flavor text throughout the game in every route; aka Passive Chara and/or Narrator Charra /cry
I'm not a huge fan of Sans being human theory, because I don't see much evidence of when Sans fell into the underground and how he got his magic that we see during his fight.(Unless he is one of the seven sorcerers that created the barrier, but it's hugely unlikely)

I mean, it's not a bad game, and I did enjoy it for a bit, but it just felt like Earthbound, and kept making me want to play THOSE games over it, which is a kinda bad thing for a game to do. And yeah, the small details and replay value are sure big things, but after awhile, it just starts to bore me, going through a lot of similar things for story differences later on. I'm not personally a fan of repeating things a lot to see what changes based on what I do. It just feels like an experiment, constantly changing inputs for different outputs, and I just get bored with it. Yeah, it has good characters and a half decent story, but when you need to repeat so many things the see everything, it just becomes more a burden than anything. That may be why I prefer Mother 3 to this. Better story, plenty of quirk (I mean, the way you save is with frogs. How is that NOT the greatest thing), and I don't need to play through the same part of a story multiple times to see what happens. I do have to give credit where it's due, being done all by one guy, it's impressive, but when there are so many endings, you either spend all your time playing that, and forget about other games, or just get bored and see it for what it is. I like the game, don't get me wrong, but it just expects the player to focus only on it, and no other games. It demands your attention, and wants you to do everything, but it just can't when there's a better option out there. Mother 3.

Most of the stuff in Undertale isn't even mandatory, and honestly if you wanted to see all of the endings without bothering to change x and do y, you can just like look it up on Youtube, or use Flowey's Time Machine for save data that's already up to z point. I was still playing through Tales of Zestiria, Phantom Pain, Animal Crossing New Leaf and Happy Home Designers during my Undertale playthrough, but doesn't really feel like it expects you to focus only on it, and do everything, it is mostly a small game and even if you did everything it wouldn't get close to the time length you'd get on a regular JRPG/RPG even without doing side-quests. Mother 3 wasn't that great for me, I'm more of a Mother/Earthbound Zero person (don't ask), but Undertale didn't really remind me about it the Earthbound/Mother series that much since it's been way too long since I played the two games, lmao, but obviously the series would have more to offer since it's a proper RPG game done by a lot of people over a huge period of time, instead of a simple gimmicky quirky go from point a to b with some fork paths that end eventually rpg indie game.

Also, just going to point out, a theory or secret doesn't make a game better. It may make you think more about the game, but thay doesn't force it to be a better game. Take Majora's Mask, with the Link is Dead theory. Yeah, it's interesting to think about, but that doesn't inherently make the game better by default. Same goes for all other games, including Undertale. Just because there are theories for and about the game, that doesn't make it a better game. The game never changes, just the way you perceive things within it.
EDIT: Also, yeah, that's a lot of playtime Bear. Just because some RPGs are longer doesn't mean their good. If you're going to make a fair comparison, use something like (surprise) Mother or Eathbound, with 20ish hour playtimes, or great JRPGs like Chrono Trigger, which has a 17 hour playtime. Both of thes games have plenty of sidequests to boot, but they don't pad out the game with "necessary grinding," which is the bane of an RPG.

- Forgive my language a bit but jfc I'm honestly actually starting to get pissed with this thread to the point I almost want this thread removed to start it again just so we don't have all this endless blathering about things relating to Undertale and other games. I'm already having a shitty ass time irl and this thread isn't making it any better, and I excuse for getting all drama-y but I came here to share my silly doodles and art, not to endlessly create semi-walls of text to what perks Undertale has that's bad/good compared to other games, otherwise I would've made a thread on General Discussions or something.

I'm sorry Bear. I didn't mean to upset you or anything by this. I'm honestly really sorry. I was just confused as to why everyone was so taken by this game, and since practically everything that's been posted recently has been Undertale related, this one just kinda pushed me over the edge. Again, I'm so so sorry, and I hope there's some way I can make it up to you. I'm so sorry, and I didn't mean anything by it.

Don't worry about it, I already forgive you. I was confused to why Undertale was so popular for a while too, but this sort of stuff tends to happens to other games as well, and sometimes webcomics, tv shows and other things that have huge fandoms, it's not really that surprising anymore when something fluctuates in popularity suddenly. Not pointing any fingers but MLP, Steven Universe, Homestuck and obviously Undertale are good examples of fandom growths in both good ways and bad.

experimenting with different styles is one of my fortes, it's loads of fun.

for context/reference sake, this is the AU Underfell it's mostly just a AU for design purposes and is basically the evil/edgy AU. It's also in reference to the song Drop Pop Candy... Only it's sung by Sans and Papyrus soundfonts and it's pretty great. A lot of people on tumblr drew the Skelebros singing the song and I took the opportunity to doodle a Underfell version.
PS: I'm bad at drawing Papyrus, I'm going need to do a lot of Papyrus doodling to get better.

And yes I know how to record for speedpainting~ mostly with Debut Video Capture Software (since that's what I use), but in most screen capture video softwares it's a bit self-explanatory. There's probably a lot of tutorials out there, but either way I'm always happy to lend a helping hand, I'm a bit of a nerd with tech after all >w>it's a bit easier for me to explain stuff orally/over skype or something but I'm a bit busy today but I can still help out in anyway where it be by text form or voice form~
