Things I want in the Pokemon games but never will (most likely) happen: Long Topic

Ok I want to post something here and it is about things I want in the Pokemon games that could help with Competive battling and creating a bigger Community (in my eyes at least). Now most likely will we not see this in Gen 7, maybe rather when we have a new handheld console or not all depending if Gamefreak gets this Idea or not. They would most likely not notice this because they are a Japanesse company and I do not know if this can be implemented into the game or not, I have no knowledge of Programming and Coding. Also because Gen 6 is such a huge overhaul in Graphics from going to Spites to cgi models and that Graphics take huge chunk of memory. There might not be too much Memory left Keep in mind that these based on opinions, you are free to criticise them if you want. PLEASE refer to the feature you want to critize by the Number of the Collection, that way it is easier to follow it. And as last thing if I write in Caps Lock that is not intended as yelling but more like making sure you would not overlook this.


Feature Collection Number 1: Family Tree System and IV bonus while breeding with Traded Pokemon


Ok this Idea I actually got from a fan game which was made with Fire Red as base had 5 regions and tried to fuse the anime and the games together. Aka Ash & Garry being in the game as rivals and possible Battle partners just like Misty and Brock. I would not really recommend the game because is over 1 GB (because you have 5 regions) and of other personal reasons but I am getting offtopic.

That fangame has an extra status Screen on where you could see the Parents of the pokemon if it was a newly hatched Pokemon. That got me thinking why not implement this in the in main series games, this concept is really simple and it should not (I do not have kind of Pogramming knowledge) take up much work and space if they keep it to maximum 3 Generations or at least 1 at the minimum. Tough the Generation Limit that can be seen is depended on how much the feature can be expressed on the 2d/3ds or the next possible Nintendo Console, not to mention if this feature would be futher expanded which I would explain now. This feature could work as certain "Check" Vallue program which could also warn you if Pokemon, had hacked parents. There is always the possibility that just got a hacked Pokemon from Wonder Trade/GTS and you would find out that pokemon is really good breeding material but your doing breeding this pokemon without knowing the one of the parents is hacked. Next you want to join the competetive side but the Pokemon and you are banned because off you not knowing this Pokemon is Illegal. Whille that part of feature could be seperated into a different form of code and even be completly separate from the Family Tree System.

Also the Family Tree system could also be used as extra stimulation for Trading. So far Trading stimulates breeding for Shiney's (forgot the name of the method) if you breed with pokemon from a different region. Next we also have that Pokemon hatch faster with parents being from a different owner. Now I need to explain some things because this next thing is because I am kind of "nitpicky" and there is one thing I do not like about the breeding mechanic the fact that the Children can breed with the mother. I know some of you will hate this but I want that to be removed, I know that some Pokemon are so rare that you do not even got a good sample on the GTS that you need to do this and I can understand because that is there, but for me it stimulates "incest" even if this was unintended. Now before I explain why I want this feature to removed here is something you guys should now to Understand why I see this. While this is clearly going off-topic please read this you might learn something but if you already know this then feel free to skip this part.

Off topic ramble:

In nature there is always "exchange" of genes by immigration and emmigration, and this is something that has to happen to keep a species population stable, because if not Inbreeding occurs Genetic Diversity Dwindels causing the species to lose their genetic adaptability and because of accumilation of Genetic faults the population eventually collapses. If the Population is big enough with a big enoug Biotope the population can stay stable without this process, but in a smaller biotoop that has a smaller population of species emmigration and immigration is ESSENTIAL for a population to stay stable by going to different Biotope's if they are connected. While they are disconnected.... you get the Idea, this is the big reason why we try to create green corridors here in Belgium because most Biotope are too much seperated and splintered by roads (High Speed Ways) by creating for example a Ecoduct.

While Pokemon clearly takes place in a different universe than ours and most likely fictional (does not mean if it is  not real if you believe the multiverse theory) I still believe it has similar principles than ours, after all Poke earth is in essention our Earth (See Jwitzz his video). And thats why I do not like the "children can breed with the parent" thing.

End off topic ramble

Now I propose that beside having this "Shiny and fast hatching bonus" that when you breed with pokemon from another player that you get a higher chance for Higher IV's because you are creating a pokemon with a "Genetic Diversity" which has more adaptability, which would translate into a IV bonus either in the current generation or the next generation of Pokemon (because IV's are suppose to represent well... Genes). This would stimulate breeding even more and if your are close with friends and make some agreements you can help each other out.

Now this does NOT HAVE to be implemented because it is already easier with Items such as Destiny knot. In fact that last thing about the "Children able to breed with the Parent" just does not feel not right for me and it just a nitpicky and CHOICE. After all the Pokemon games is the closet thing we have to experience our "own" (Debatable because we still follow a character story) pokemon Journey like the Anime Characters. But that is just my opinion anyway. I do see A big Problem with it to if they remove my nitpicky If this would be implemented feature it has to be more refined to stop eventual exploits and it make would the games DEPENDANT ON WIFI which means if Wifi ever shuts down and you want to breed on your own while the "Child can breed with parent" is your only option but It has been removed. You want to jump to the next generation but you want to either duplicate your pokemon for Transfer or create A pokemon that has moves he normally cannot have by leveling or move tutoring in the new game.

Now that was Feature Collection number 1, you may criticize this feature if you do not want it or if you agree/disagree with certain points please let me know.




Feature Collection Number 2: Total Revise of the Contest System and Linking Pokeblocks/Poffins to Pokemon Amie.


According to the Top 5 pro's and Con's For ORAS from the Silver League Network Channel, one of Silver's Con's was that the Contest where not improved and he wanted to be more like how the Anime does it, in the form of Battles and preformance. While I find this also true, what I want ad to this is that a complete revamp of the system by making the Contest a General Contest and not sperated in specialisation. Now do not get me wrong It is not like I want the Cute, Cool etc attributes to be removed far from it I want that to be THE THING that differentiates Pokemon from each other and that is the thing to catch the Judges attention in General context. That way each Pokemon gets a moment to shine and to be used in a different way Depending on the species of Pokemon. Of course that would also mean that there no specific ribbons anymore for the specific appeal groups but for the Dificulty groups instead, in a way to keep that ribbon attach system to your pokemon. The background and so on could be better made to match the anime more and the rounds as well: Round 1 being the Appeal round and Round 2 being the Fight Round. This could be Single or Double Battle depending on the Difficulty of the Contest or the settings in Wifi (that will be explained more below).
Not to mention this also Opens The Grand Festival setting if you make the Ribbons also a sort of badge system while also make it that the you do not need to re-use the pokemon that won the novice class for example to give a possibility for spicing things up. If there would be a possibility for Wifi and a possibility for  "Setting and Qualifiaction System" where some players are the judges or the spectators where the players try to qualify the Settings that have been set by the Host. Heck just like the Sliver League fans site could organize their own "Grand festival". Since well the Ribbons work like a badge system. The first round Appeal System could also be combination of interactive gimmick and move appeals but DO NOT ask me how that will work.
Now the reason this would not most likely happen is that beside the battling they have to rework the appeal systems in some extent not to mention either completely remade a new battle system or reuse the current battle system we use for competitive play and study each move carefully in terms of Combo's and translate those into attribute forms. I do not know anything about programming but this must seem like a lot of work even if they trying to keep the core the same.

Next is Pokemon Amie tough it really looks like something fun to do to interact with your Pokemon and really bring out some cuteness off Pokemon like a Latios Sleeping I kind of do not understand and Understand why Pokeblocks are not linked to the feature. Pokemon Amie is meant to interract with you pokemon and to increase Happiness, you can even give it Poké Puffs to raise it affections. Not to mention Pokeblocks are linked to to the feature.

A Pokémon's affection in Pokémon-Amie can also boost the effectiveness of Pokéblocks. A Pokémon with level 2-3 affection adds 1 extra point of condition, level 4 adds 2 extra points, and level 5 adds 4 extra points.

Now so why not include the Feeding of Pokeblock (Poffins would be most likely because of Generation advancement) in Pokemon Amie? But I see the problem there Poffins/Pökeblocks are actually fed in a seperate menu and going through Pokemon Amie just to feed your Pokemon a Poffin/Pokeblock make it seem tedious. So why not include both options for those who still want to interact with them in Amie and want to use Pokeblocks a seperate way.

Ok that were my features I really want to see in the Pokemon games but will saldy not be included into because of several reasons.

I want ArchiexMaxie to be cannon.

Ok, in all seriousness one of the things I really want is for the GTS to be streamlined. Every time I see a "Wanted: Lvl 90-100 insert legendary Pokemon here" I wanna jump off a cliff. The thing is, I don't know how they could go about it. I know they could make asking for unobtainable Pokemon impossible, (IE: Lvl 9 and under Mewtwo) but I'm not sure how they would fix other unfair offers, like a level 1 Bidoof for a level 90-100 Arceus.

They could make a system that analyzes the Pokemon being offered and the Pokemon being asked for to see if it makes sense.

I think the unobtainable pokemon thing might work. Maybe there could be a tier system for different pokemon, where pokemon are ranked in differnt groups that are considered "fair trades" and there could ofcourse be a "free" tier, where you could just as well want a palkia for a bidoof.

One thing I think that they need to expand is the stuff for the casual player. For most casual players, once you beat the Elite Four, and catch the big legendary, you are pretty much done, and you then have very few reasons to return to the game. They need to have an expanded post game, like the Sevii Islands in FR/LG, or the Delta Episode in ORAS. In most of the other games, while yes, the casual players can take part in the post game content, it is usually more directed at people who play competitively, and while I do like to occasionally visit these places, they just aren't fun for casual play. I'm not saying that they should get rid of these places, but they should add more post game content for the casual players.

Another thing I think they need to do is how legendary Pokemon are given out through Mystery Gift. As it is now, you just get the Pokemon at any PokeCenter, and while this method works for normal Pokemon, it devalues the legendaries. It would be a lot cooler, and a lot more fun, if instead they gave out tickets to new locations where you have to explore, solve a puzzle, or just walk up to the legendary and fight it. They could even just put them in old locations that already exist. As long as I have to work to get the legendary, then it's cool.
